"Finally the day has arrived." Hector whispered to himself quietly. Through the doors in front of him was sitting none other than Inquistor Lord Karamazov The Pyrophant Judge of Salem Proctor waiting to bestow the honor and title of Inquitor to Hector.

For years he had been an acolyte to his former master. Years of standing at his side in battle destroying the enemies of Mankind protecting his master. He had heard the fools' battle cries proclaiming their faith in false prophets and gods. He had seen his master hand down justice to heretics and traitors. Seen them tortured to coax a confession from them. He had felt no pity on them. They were not worthy of compassion. They had turned their backs on The Emperor of Mankind and were now paying the price for it. He had given them everything and they spat in his face saying it was not enough.

Fools all of them. Fools and traitors.

Now, finally, after 150 years he was being granted the power to judge the wicked. He opened the solid heavy doors and walked with purpose to the Throne of Judgment. He held his head high for he knew that he deserved this. He knew that he would protect all of Mankind with his life and his soul if neccesary.

"Acolyte Hector..." Karamazov said. He sounded very pleased. "You know exactly why you are here. You have been found worthy after much testing in the field and in the courts. Your mind has beheld the filth of the Warp and turned away. But not completely unscathed..." He trailed off for a moment. Reading what was undoubtedly the report of Hector's psyker testing. "But that is to be expected. None can withstand the terror of that place and not be changed. What matters is that you lived and you now know that power of what we are fighting against. Before we continue do you have anything to say?"

"I will dedicate my entire existance to the pursuit of justice. I will bring back what souls I can and burn the rest. I will purge the unclean and establish order. I will accept the scorn and contempt they feel for me but let them hate me so long as they fear me. Because without men like us The Imperium would fall to Chaos.

Inquitor Lord Karamazov's lips curled into a cruel and hideous smile.

"I believe you are just the man I need..."

So tell me what you think. If it's good I'll write some more. If not I will improve or quit or something

i was thinking grood as well, then zack said it.

I like how hector knows they will hate him, but has a vision of a higher purpose, putting his pride and self below that purpose.

Nice!

Very well written (and I tend to be a little anal about crap like grammar, spelling, and stuff like that). I could mention one or two minor errors, like typos or spelling, but the whole story, short as it was, flowed very well. I can't wait to read more. Very Happy

It's time I wrote some fluff... Empty Ascension

Okay I am out of class and should be doing homework but srsly guys eff that noise.

This is not based on a game I played just an idea I had for a back story.

The Canonness sat in silent mediation and prayer consecrating her blessed weapon with sanctified oils inside of the Rhino. Beside her sat her faithful Palatine and a full squad of Celestians armed with bolters, a heavy flamer and a melta gun. They all were as their fearless leader silent in prayers to The Emperor of Mankind. Outside shells exploded, bullets flew, and bodies fell to the ground. But inside this Rhino it was a sanctuary. A comforting sense of calm had gripped all the sisters. They knew that should they die they would die in the service of The God-Emperor and he would reward them justly.

The Eldar who had invaded this planet had declared it a maiden world and began attacking and destroying all Imperial settlements in their path including a Sister of Battle convent. The Xenos murdered every sister, priest, and even servitor they found the and burned the holy place to the ground along with all its teachings and relics. This act of aggression was not only directed at the men and women who lived there but also against The God-Emperor himself. The fury of his followers was immense and the Sisters of Battle would be the tools that his judgment would be delivered through.

Over the static of the radio the Canonness heard the Imperial Guardsmen commander.

"...taking heavy loss...two Leman...destroyed....platoons are pin...Guardian fire. Canonness....what is your mission status?"

"We're heading towards the Eldar Farseer. Disembarking and engaging now." She stood and turned to her squad of sisters shouting over the roar of the engine. "Celestians! These Xenos murdered your sisters and burned their convent to the ground. The Daughters of The Emperor will be the tools of his wrath and bring justice to these enemies of humanity. The fire of our faith will burn their souls and purge the unclean. Suffer not the witch to live!"

Her sisters joined in a battle cry as one kicked out the back door to the Rhino. Sister Catherine fired up her heavy flamer as she stepped out and said a prayer before turning it on the nearest group of Eldar. The promethium stuck to their armor turning them into walking torches. They screamed as they were baptized by the holy flame before dropping to the ground to smolder and die.

The Celestians ran towards the nearest cover a few dropping dead from incoming fire. The Canonness did not stop but said a silent prayer in her heart for their souls. They were righteous souls that deserved better than to die at the hands of these heathens.

The incoming fire stopped for only a few seconds. But that was all the sisters needed to stand and return with a barrage of bolter fire, melta, and flame. The melta cut straight through the center mass of an alien. The smell was quick to reach both the sisters of the Eldar. Knowing that their losses were too heavy to continue fighting these warriors the Eldar turned and ran.

"Continue with the mission sisters the Guardsmen will take care of those."

The squad continued over a hill and saw their targets. A Farseer and his bodyguard of Warlocks. The Farseer spotted the nuns and quickly held out his sword sending bolts of lightning towards them. Three were caught by the arcs and screamed in pain as smoke began to pour from the holes in their power armor. An arc shot toward the Palatine but it stopped cold in front of her helmet. Protected by her faith she knew that nothing could harm her not even this witchcraft. She was stronger in her resolve than those who had been killed by it.

The Celestians charged forward into glourious combat ready to fight and die for their cause. The sisters cut down two Warlocks quickly returning their attention to the ones still living. Soon only three stood surrounded by bodies of both holy warriors and the filth who had ended their promising lives of servitude to Mankind. The Canonness , the Palatine, and the Farseer were all that remained and all were exhausted but knew they could not stop fighting. The last two women struck at the remaining alien with their swords. The witch vanished into thin air and reappeared behind them before thrusting his weapon into the Canonness breaking through her armor and piercing to the other side. She dropped to her knees and let go of her weapon. This is how it would end? At the hands of a psyker? The life was draining out of her now and she could not stop it. Looking around she noticed that there were other Eldar charging into the battle weapons draw screaming for blood.

"Emperor accept this soul that has spent it's days in your service. Although my failure is clear I beseech thee..."

She fell over dead her life less eyes staring into the eyes of her Palatine who was left alone among a horde of Xenos. The Palatine dropped to her knees tears streaming down her face. She knew now that she was doomed. Her beloved Canonness was dead. Murdered before her while she stood and did nothing. This planet would fall and billions of souls would be lost forever in darkness. The Farseer stood over her surrounded by his Eldar soldiers and pulled the weapon from the dead woman's body and began to raise it for the killing blow.

Suddenly she felt the fire in her heart again. It was the will to survive and the need for revenge. The Emperor may have lost a leader today but he would have a new one soon. She grabbed the blessed weapon that lay before her and stood before shouting.

"Emperor guide this blade! My life is yours!"

Light shot from her mouth and eyes as she said this and struck fear into the souls of every Eldar surrounding her those that could move ran in fear to hide from her righteous fury. The unlucky few who were stunned by this fumbled for their weapons but only some were able to keep a hold on them. The Palatine swung her blade cutting through armor, flesh, and bone. Seperating limbs and decaptiating bodies. The Farseer regained his courage and prepared to strike her. Another flash of golden light blinded him as he swung his sword down. He swore he hit her but when he opened his eyes he saw the blade had stopped just short of her face. A force field of some kind was protecting her from his attacks. No matter how hard he hit her or how fast he struck it happened again and again. In frustration he screamed curses at her, her Order, and her Emperor.

Her sword sizzled as it cut through his body and he fell to the ground in pieces.

It had been years since Lady Gaga had become a Canonness after seeing her squad and former leader killed before her eyes. She had killed the psyker and destroyed the enemies morale making their will to fight disolve quickly effectively ending the Eldar invasion. Now she knelt in front of the altar in her convent clutching her repentance beads in her hands remembering that day long ago.

She heard the nun enter the room and the clicking of her heels in the silent hall but didn't turn to react but continued in meditation.

"Canonness Superior? An Inquistor named Hector is here to see you. He says he is here to ask for your assistance in hunting down a rogue psyker."

Lady Gaga stood and turned to go meet with the Inquistor.

Haha it's a little excessive all the hate for the Xenos but that's how the sisters and inquistion are so I wanted it to have that feeling of disgust whenever they thing of anyone that threatens the imperial cult

There are exceptions to the rule, including Inquisitors who use Daemonhosts, and Inquisitors who have worked with Eldar (and even a very select few who have been escorted to the Black Library). But the choices of individual Inquisition leaders and what they will tolerate or embrace in the name of the Emperor varies from individual to individual. I remember fluff and rules in early editions that had former Inquisition being twisted and turned to Chaos. Joe's personality for his characters is extremely legitimate, but so is the idea of "I'll do whatever it takes to preserve mankind, even if it costs me my own soul."

"In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war"

Hector and Gaga's fluff and personality are great for Joe's army list. If he were running an Inquisitor from Daemonhunters that included a Daemonhost, I could see the same self-righteous personality justifying his every action, and for me, that is the true nature of the Inquisition.

Once again, well written. I like the way you portray the use of your faith points. "I haven't died yet, so that means I'm more faithful than the people who have." It works well with what I've already mentioned above. Smile

It's time I wrote some fluff... Empty Warning extremely long

Post  Guest Sun Sep 26, 2010 2:02 am

Guess what? It's friday night 11:47 and I'm alone writing fluff! This whole social life thing is easy amidoingitrite?

I know we have a new forum so I hope people are still coming here and will read this until I get a section for fluff. Anyway here we go some fluff about Katy Perry (not the hot one the model)

She didn't know how long she had spent here on this forsaken hell hole of a planet? How long had it been exactly? She had no idea she had stopped keeping track she had more important tasks at hand.

She didn't come here alone although she was now. The ship that she was serving on as a Culexus assassin on had complications while traveling through the Warp. No doubt the work of the blasphemous psyker they were hunting. He knew they were coming and tried everything in his power to stop them. A warpstorm would not be enough to stop justice from the Emperor. They crash landed and were those that survived were either killed in the ambush on the wreckage or succumb to the forest both beasts and exposure. At first she felt sorry for those that died but after a few months she came to envy them. They were no longer struggling to survive while also hiding her very existance to the legions on this planet under the command of the Chaos Sorcerer Ochieng and whatever beasts he had been able to summon without her noticing.

Living off of the land had come slowly and the mistakes that were made were quickly learned from. Even though there were plenty of supplies in the wreckage to live for the rest of her natural life most of it would only endanger her. The bolters were used for soem time but the loud reports everytime it was fired would give away hiding positions too easily and render all stealth meaningless. The neurotoxin that she had created was much more effective when used with the crossbow she built. The effects were especially satisfying against those that showed psyker potential leaving them wracked with pain and helpless blood streaming from their eyes, mouth, nose and ears. It obviously affected the brain which is exactly what was needed to stop them.

Using the environment to advantage had also proved useful. Attacking from the trees and setting booby traps had killed more than would had fell using conventional tactics. Guerilla warfare was ideal and this new master of it knew how to use every aspect to it's maxium.

The altar that was to be used for the ritual was complete and tonight would be the night. Ochieng had to be stopped tonight or else the Warp would be opened and whatever lay on the other side of the portal would leave this planet forever lost to the influence of Chaos.

Not all the soldiers would be allowed to attend the ritual because of the paranoia that came to those with power such as Ochieng. Only his trusted few Aspiring sorcerers would be present in the camp making it the only time that a reasonable chance of success would be possible. Reasonable in this case though was still chances that normally not even the bravest commander would want to test.

Midnight and the chanting was clear even from the distance that she was from the altar. Quietly moving through the camp the chanting only got louder and more maddening. She felt the darkness of the words in her very soul and was almost unable to shut it out. She shook off the fear knowing that she needed to do this no matter what she felt.

"Brothers we are on the threshold of a new order!" Orchieng shouted over the insane chanting. "Can you feel the power in the air?" As he said these last words a dark mass formed above the stone altar that was stained dark with blood. The body that was draped over it with a twisted black knife in it's back lifted into the air and was slowly lifting to the black mass.

Even if the cultists were not chanting they wouldn't have heard her light footsteps or the quiet release of the bolt from her crossbow. The bolt flew through the air burying itself deep in the neck of one while she drew her knifes and began throwing them into chests, backs, and heads. When she had no more she drew her sword and swept it past the last Aspiring Sorcerer turning quickly to face him and impale him through the stomach dropping him to his knees.

"You can't stop me. It is too late and the daemon will be released naming me his liberator and granting me unmatched power." Orchieng turned to face the body had almost reached the mass above their heads. Black tendrils of Warp power extended from his mouth and eyes wrapping around the body. The body then began pulsating and seemed as if something was trying to force it's way out of the corpse.

Pulling the sword out from it's latest victim she rushed forward but was knocked back by a powerful shockwave from the mass that was quickly growing larger and darker. On her back she loaded her crossbow with a poisoned dart and took aim. After the dart found its mark in the back of his neck Orchieng placed his hand there shocked by the intense burning and pain quickly spreading through his body now. He dropped to his knees and the tendrils retreated back into his mind. The screeching he was hearing couldn't just be in his head but when he looked back at the assassin she seemed unaffected by it. He yelled curses at her but couldn't even hear his own voice and started panicking when his vision went red then he couldn't see anymore. The pain!

She knew he was dead when blood bgan to seep from his helmet in every place that it could and his screams of agony stopped. With his powers not feeding the mass anymore it became unstable and lightning shot from it in every direction hitting structures in the camp and trees around the camp catching fire. It shrunk to the size of a persons head and then suddenly expanded in a massive shockwave and what she swore was the frustrated scream of a demon. The shockwave leveled every structure in the camp and destroyed the altar but the feeling in her soul didn't disappear when the portal did. It stayed there eating away at her.

For the next 3 months that feeling was always there. Always a hunger in her soul something hungering for her soul.

Inquistor Hector was looking over Katy Perry's record when the servitor entered his chambers.

"What is it?" He said very rudely. But of course it was justa servitor he didn't have to be polite to this tool. He was an Inquisitor Lord now he didn't need to be polite to anyone. His authority was unquestionable and only the Emperor could take it away. The servitor unable to speak printed out his report on a piece of parchment.

"I see. Very good. Make ready to retrieve her."

It had been what seemed like forever since she had sat in a ship that actually worked. She thought she would feel comfortable and relaxed going back to what she had always known but she felt on edge and paranoid turning quickly to find the source of every noise as if it were something waiting to kill her. And the hunger in her soul hadn't subsided at all as always it was there gnawing at her. In front of her sat an Inquisitor and a Cannoness both staring at her not saying a thing.

"We have a special task from the High Lords of Terra themselves and we need your help to complete this task. We have read past records and think you would be ideal given your expertise on killing wtiches."

At the word witches her pulse raced and she felt excitement. The hunger in her grew intense but in an pleasing way.

After Katy Perry had left to be attended to by seritors and hospitaliers Lady Gaga turned to Hector.

"Did you feel that? She is a danger to everyone on board and that is a part of this mission. We can't use her."

"She has been to close to the Warp and that has done damage to her soul. Perhaps damage we can't undo. But we can use that to our advantage. We will use it."
