The life of a guardsman (Guymon's fluff) Revised!! Empty The life of a guardsman (Guymon's fluff) Revised!!

Post  Lil Red Thu Sep 09, 2010 9:42 pm

So I wasn't super pleased with where my fluff was going and how it was organized so I'm revising it starting with my guardsman. Here is what I've got so far...

Fleet No. 328448
Location: Astroid Gryphone III
Head of Defense:Commander Basil
1st Captian: General Ambrose, Director the front lines.

Basil (Kingly or Nobel): Little is known about Basil’s childhood. Those closest to him and his family will say he looks a lot like his father did. He, like his father, from a young age always dreamed of his chance to lead an Imperial army and from a young age he devoted his time to the art of strategy. This aspect of war was of great benefit to his childhood as he was much smaller than most of his classmates and he was generally to core of their pranks and jokes.
Basil never once was caught lashing back at those who in latter years would end up being his conscripts; However, rarely did one get away with a prank unscathed. His older brother was known for his temper and love for fighting and frequently you could find him executing Basil’s plan for revenge.
Basil enlisted with the Imperial Army at 12 years of age and quickly moved up the ranks. Commander Breech, the head of operations on Gryphone III, recognized Basil’s talent as an officer and quickly ranked him as secretary of defense. Rumors quickly spread that Basil, even though only now 15 years of age was next in line to command Gryphone III when Breech stepped down.
Rumors of a Alien race called “Tyranids” were quickly sweeping the Imperium when Basil reached his 16th birthday. Something about them interested him that he could not understand. The few moments of “free” time that he had was spent researching the exotic new race. 15 days after Basil’s Birthday spores began to rain from the sky. Communication to the rest of the Imperium had been severed but a psychic static.
Hours into ordeal The defense lasers gave out. Spores flooded the courtyard and all stewards were sent to their stations. What started out as small mindless swarms of aliens turned into large titans of a creature. It seemed as if this fleet had waited for their defenses to founder. A larger pod struck center of the courtyard and and beast that would latter be labeled a “Hive Tyrant,” but know in this sector as “Doran” meaning Tyrant and Strange wanderer, arose from the pod’s corpse. Doran wasted no time and went straight for our Commander Breech and Basil’s father. With one swing from his mighty sword Breech was no more. The Tyrant then picked up Basil’s father and Basil watched helpless as his father was flung across the Courtyard to his death.
Basil and his brother reacted. Not knowing what to do Basil sent his brother into the heart of the fray mounted in a Chimera. Ambrose (Basil’s brother) and his command squad gunned down the now over confident Doran with a volley of melta fire. With their leader now dead the aliens seemed to loose all sense of direction and control. Synapse had been broken and order restored to the battle. Two hours latter the entire courtyard and surrounding cities had been purged of the bugs.
The loss of Commander Breech and Basil’s Father was hard to bare for every steward left on Gryphone III. The end of one dynasty however brought about a new one. Basil was pronounced Commander and Head of Defense on Gryphone III. Never before had the emperor seen such valor and tactical genius from such a young man.
Basil’s curiosity of the Alien race that killed his father never dwindled. To this day he has studied the art of synapse and with the help of many strong psychers has started to create a synaptic web of his own. A Tyranid will never be able to be “trained” most lack the intelligence to think for themselves let alone follow a command, but with synapse broken from their mother Hive Fleet and Tyranid now can be pointed in a direction of its Commander’s choice.

The life of a guardsman (Guymon's fluff) Revised!! Empty Ambrose revised

Post  Lil Red Fri Sep 10, 2010 9:47 pm

Here is part to of my revised fluff...

Ambrose (immortal or unbeatable): Ambrose’s childhood is much more recorded that Basil’s. He routinely was found in the middle of school fights. Ambrose and his family moved to an Imperial base when he was 5 years old and he was immediately thrust into the Imperial school districts. Their classmates learned quickly that to harass Basil, Ambrose’s younger brother, would result in a brisk beating from Ambrose.
Ambrose’s childhood was short lived however and he enlisted into the Imperial Army at the age of 13. Ambrose quickly found that close combat fighting and pistol marksmanship were his forte. He won the Gryphone III marksmen contest with a laspistol at the age of 15 and the close quarter combat gold medal one year later. He was promoted three times but preferred to stay on the front lines. Breech could see the leadership potential in Ambrose and so he gave Ambrose his own “mounted” battalion consisting of 15 Chimera transports each full of 10 Veterans and their weapons of choice.
His first test as general came early in his career. Orks had invaded the northern stronghold and had killed most of the stewards there. The orks had to be brought down quickly before other cities fell to the simple-minded savages. Ambrose and his company embarked across the frozen wasteland and found the first swarm of barbarians in a near by city. His Lemans made quick work of the foot slogging orks as they had nowhere to hide. The savage’s heavier vehicles were also quickly swept away by Ambrose’s outflanking Vendettas and it seemed like his first battle would soon be won.
Then came a thunderous WAGGG!!! Ambrose had never seen such rage and power overcome an enemy. Before he knew it vendettas were raining down from the skies and 2 Battle tanks were destroyed. Veterans were being pulled from their transports and being torn apart, but Ambrose did not loose his valor and drove into the heart of the frenzy. He and his command squad targeted out the Ork Leader and brought him to his knees with a volley of melta hell.
The remaining orks began to panic. As quickly as the WAGGG had frenzied them they began to flee before the cannons of the emperor. Ambrose knew that no ork could be allowed to live if the city was to be safe but he didn’t have the men to follow them so he had to let them run.
It took two days for Ambrose’s Reinforcements to arrive. The orks were not idle in their preparations for war and had taken refuge in an abandoned stronghold. When Ambrose arrived they were waiting for him and sprung their attack. Truckz rushed the front lines. Ambrose gave the order to focus fire on the Truckz and with accuracy he had never seen before the truckz dropped like flies but it was too late, the savages inside leapt from their burning transports and tore into the Chimeras. Ambrose countered with a rear assault from his Vendettas and sandwiching their general between him and the planes. The savages WAGGG’d and tore into Ambrose’s personal Chariot. Before Ambrose could regain his feet the savage general clove through Ambrose’s command squad and pinned ambrose to the ground. Before he could finish Ambrose’s short lived career the last survivor of his Command Squad, Leonidas, Stabbed the barbarian through the heart.
Ambrose felt lucky to be alive after his last encounter with the orks. The entire return voyage was spent in and out of a dark abyss. He can remember little of the next few months. In and out of consciousness, hospital lights whirling above his head. He couldn’t feel his right arm, it was as if it was gone.
It was four months before he finally awoke from his deep slumber. The sound of a punisher cannon was ringing in the background. As he sat up he realized that his right arm was completely bionic now. He liked the strength that it offered. He walked to the window and realized that the punisher cannon wasn’t on a practice run but Gryphone III was under attack but a Tryanid swarm. He heart dropped until he saw that a small Blood Angel platoon had come as reinforcements.
Ambrose was quickly out the door, as nurses flooded behind him trying to get him back into his bed. He ran to his headquarters, found his pistol and was plesantly surprised to see a box wrapped in newspaper alongside it. A flimsy note on top read, “happy birthday little brother!!!” He opened the box to see a gleaming new shotgun, perfect for what he was about the encounter.
His men were already at his chariot awaiting for his return, he mounted and drove to the front lines. With Basil and Ambrose united they once again purged their stronghold of the alien infestation.

The life of a guardsman (Guymon's fluff) Revised!! Empty Leonidas

Post  Lil Red Sun Sep 12, 2010 11:37 pm

Leonidas (the lion): Leonidas was nothing more than one of a billion other recruitments when he entered the Imperial Army. He fought through the ranks and was lucky enough to find himself along a young Company Commander by the name of Ambrose.
There was only one person on Gryphone III that loved melee combat more than Leonidas and that was his Commander. The two quickly grew a reputation for being unbeatable in melee combat. Every time Gryphone III was assaulted Leonidas and Ambrose could be found on the front lines directing the attack.
Ambrose was quickly promoted to general and the first member of his command squad was Leonidas. Their first test would be to repel a force of Orks that had landed on the northern tip of Gryphone III. Each battle the two became more and more confident. The last stand for the orks was to take place in an abandoned fortress. The orks were tightly dug in but Ambrose was able to force them out. Ambrose and Leonidas dove head first into the battle in an attempt to slay the Ork Warboss. His forces were stronger than had been anticipated and the two were mortally wounded while the rest of their company was slain.
Leonidas remembered little of the next few months. He remembered blacking out after a blow to the waste from the warboss, next he remembered hearing Ambrose call to his soldier to not abandon his body. Bits and pieces of surgical rooms and hospital beds swam through the rest of his memories. Eight months later his head stopped spinning. His nurse was standing by his bedside asking how his arm was responding. Leonidas could feel a difference and looked to see a power fist fastened in place of his left arm. His eye also felt funny before he realized it had been swapped for a bionic one.
Leonidas was no longer fit for the fast moving gun fights of Ambrose’s command squad, but his love for the front lines never dwindled. He quickly mastered the use of the power fist and soon after spent his efforts applying for a Lord Commissar position. Few could deny his ability to lead and the resume he had built. He was finally granted his commissar metals and Ambrose quickly picked him up to lead the First battalions men.

The life of a guardsman (Guymon's fluff) Revised!! Empty Gryphone III: The Planet (mostly the same as before)

Post  Lil Red Tue Sep 14, 2010 12:12 pm

Gryphone III: (The Planet) Gryphone III is an astroid the orbits one of the Imperium’s outer most planets Gryphone IV. It’s Orbit however is very unusual because it only orbits 1/2 of the planet due to pulls from other planets. The half that it orbits for 95% of the year (One year being 654 day orbit for Gryphone IV to revolve around it’s sun) is it’s outside half making it the first encounter for anything entering the galaxy. There is only a 33 day scan of time that the planet is pulled inward and does a normal orbit around the planet (such as Earth’s current moon which still allows for Gryphone III to be on the outside 50% of the day).
Due to the awkward orbit the side of G. III that is facing G. IV is slightly coned shape. At the tip of the cone, with a radius of 300 miles, is an active volcano. The opposite side of the astroid is cold 621 days of the year and is a polar icecap. It’s radius is about 600 miles. Ocean covers over 80% of the planet, towards the North it is freezing or near freezing and towards the South it is boiling 620 days of the year.
Only the center of the astroid can sustain life. There is a ring of land that encircles the entire astroid right at its equator which is about 400 miles wide at it’s widest point and 20 miles wide at it’s skinniest point. The Imperium has built a wall around the entire astroid along this strip of land called “The First Stand.” The wall has four strongholds along it. The largest being called Arathon. Arathon guards the only land passage to the South where most of the mining is done on G. III.
There is also a strong hold at the northern Icecap as it is the easiest place for incoming invasions to land. Ambrose Rebuilt it after an ork invasion wiped it out and the stronghold is name Ambrosia in his honor.

The life of a guardsman (Guymon's fluff) Revised!! Empty Where it all began (NEW!!!!)

Post  Lil Red Tue Sep 14, 2010 12:13 pm

Where It All Began: Gryphone III is an astroid in orbit just outside Ambrose and Basil’s home world Gryphone IV. Gryphone III’s Volcanic activity has made nye uninhabitable, but rich in harvestable resources. The Imperium has harvested many resources from Gryphone III since they were discovered however Gryphone III’s worth comes from the fact that the Tyranids must first pass by Gryphone III before they can attack any other Imperial planet in this region. There are only two weeks in the year that because of its orbit Gryphone III is not the first Imperial base in harms way. Because of this Gryphone III has become the Emperors first defense.
Far from any reinforcements the emperor has allowed for the Imperial Navy to overlap with the ground troops in the region. Because of this alliance Commander Basil and his predecessors have been able to hold off the Tyranids for more than 100 years.
Commander Basil and his brother Ambrose we both born on Gryphone IV. From a young age they both showed great abilities in the art of war. Their father was one of the Cadian shock troops assigned to Gryphone III and spent most of his life leading the battalion in his region. It was because of his valor that Commander Breech looked into his children. Basil was the older of the two boys but far the smaller. What he lacked in size he more than made up in wit. He on more than one occasion was thought to be the master mind behind many of the school pranks, although no one was ever able to prove it.
What basil was mentally, his younger brother Ambrose was physically. He quickly gained a reputation of being a dirty and hardened fighter. People may have spoke ill of him behind his back, but few dared say anything to him personally. The brothers at the age of 13 and 12 respectively enlisted into the military. By the age of 14 both we in command of the regiments and by the age of 16 both were stationed along side their father on Gryphone III.
Four years into their stay on Gryphone III was when things changed. Never before had the Tyranids swarmed down on their defenses as they did that night. It took the Imperium more than 18 months to fend off this attack and purge them from the astroid. When the dust settled Commander Breech had fallen to a bonesword of the fleet’s Hive Tyrant. Along side Breech’s remains was Basil and Ambrose’s father. More Unexpected however was that Ambrose, being Basils spear, had slain the the Hive Tyrant and the brothers with their regiments had pushed back the tyrannic invasion.
Basil was made Commander over the Gryphone III and the two brothers have spent the last 3 years defending it and the rest of the empire from the Tyranid invasion. They have designed a synchronized attack of Troops in Chimeras to head an attack, backed by long ranged Leman Russ Battle tanks and Air Support from the trusted Vendetta squadron entrusted to Basil’s care.

The life of a guardsman (Guymon's fluff) Revised!! Empty The Arrow is introduced to my fluff (best stuff yet)

Post  Lil Red Tue Sep 14, 2010 12:13 pm

Severe The Head: Hive Fleet Ulysses had warped Gryphone III government. Basil was an ample general but some began to wonder if he was too young to manage an entire planet. The Hive fleet was beginning to spread to other planets and with each victory it grew stronger and stronger. Basil knew that his humble force on Gryphone III could only survive so long against the growing fleet.
The death of Doran intrigued Basil. Why was the entire fleet struck dumb after their commander was slain? Countless sleepless nights cluttered the next few months as Basil studied the Tyranids and their “synaptic web.” Basil had never mingled with psychers of the Imperium, but he realized powers far greater than his was needed if we was going to be able to eradicate the bugs.
Two years later Basil formed his first synaptic web. Pylons constructed similar to psychic hoods were placed around and inside of the stronghold Arathon that hopefully would confound the psychic connection between the Fleet ship. Forty-nine days later Ulysses reared its ugly head and spores began to rain down upon Gryphone III. All of the northern defense lasers were lit the sky fending off the invaders, but Basil allowed pods to land next to the base. At first the Pylons seemed to have to no affect and Basil wondered if his trust in science would be the end of Gryphone III, but as the larger and smarter beast landed they looked confused, Zoanthropes could no longer sustain themselves psychically and were crushed under their massive cranium. The smaller aliens began to fight among themselves or flee into the surrounding vegetation.
The Pylons had worked far greater than he expected and their only problem was the incredibly short range. Commands were ordered for more to be build and sent to the North. Basil also sent word to The Emperor’s command of his recent victory. Plans to build a mobile Pylon to be placed on a battlebarge were in place and for a brief moment The Imperium could be felt relaxing from it’s most current threat.

All Good Things Come To An End: Eleven months passed in peace for the stewards of Gryphone III. Ambrose however was uncomfortable with the lax feeling that could be felt Floating through Arathon. Many said Arathon the luckiest of all defense stations because the Fleet Ship kept all other races from entering their Orbit and the Pylons Nullified the Fleet Ship.
Ambrose had learned through years of experience that storms trail times of serenity; Therefore, Ambrose and his 1st Company decided to Leave Arathon and fortify the defenses of the North. Those eleven months were not a time of rest for Ambrose and his men but were rather spent training and fortifying their strongholds.
When the first spore hit Gryphone III the men of Arathon were fast asleep. Night watches were in place, but few stewards even attempted to stay alert. Had it not been for Ambrose calling from the North Arathon would have assaulted in it’s sleep. It was that same call from the North that awoke Basil. As we went to his window he could see the territories around Arathon filling with spores, pods and Tyranids preparing for an assault. The defense lasers however stood idle as millions of more pods fell down around the city.
Basil sounded the alarm but no one could hear it. Infiltrated genestealers had cut the power and the reserve generators were not powerful enough to power anything other than the pylons. Basil now had a choice, cut the Pylons or sit in the dark.
Ambrose wasted no time mobilizing his men and within minutes they were on their way towards Arathon. Thousands of veterans filled the gunships and Chimeras. The Lemans and Hellhounds were also mobilized but they would take nearly 8 hours to make the trek through the frozen wastelands.
Basil’s men were now awake and alert. They attempted to man their stations as best they could in the dark. Every minute hundreds of Tyranid spores safely landed outside of Arathon. The Tyranids were now information and ready for their assault.
The first Tyranid hit the wall full force. Seconds later hundreds and then thousands of gaunts began to pile up along the walls. With our without the synaptic web these creatures ran to their death more frightened by what was behind them than what laid before them. Thirty minutes passed before the first Hormagaunt crested the wall. Within fifteen minutes the courtyard was crawling with the little creatures. Never in the Imperium had so many pods been allowed to land at one time in one place and even without synapse fear drove the creatures forward with almost as much frenzy.
Ambrose and his men landed inside Arathon only one hour after the Tyranids started their attack. Normally the defense lasers would just be warming up, but this time the courtyard was already full of gaunts. For the time being Ambrose’s support was able to push the gaunts back to the wall’s edge, but with ever minute that passed hundreds of more gaunts poured over the wall.
Four hours into the ordeal the wall gave in. A frenzied Carnifex brood had broke through the wall and was now tearing through the ranks of gaunts and guardsmen alike. Ambrose and his command squad quickly dispatched and was able to slay the beasts, but that was only a minor victory. Two of the Pylons were now destroyed and Zoanthropes had entered where the wholes in the web were now in place.
Ambrose made a move that would cost him a friendship but save their lives. With one command his entire platoon opened fire on the remaining Pylons. Within seconds power was restored to the defense lasers and turrets. Hell began to rain down upon the Tyranids and bodies began to pile like nothing that had been seen before. For a moment it looked as if this would turn the tides of battle. Nearly all incoming spores with shattered before they hit the ground, but with out the Pylons in place the Tyranids synaptic web was restored and tactics were restored to all of the creatures.
The forces on the ground were having a much harder time dealing with the beast, but what they couldn’t see was the window they had made for members of The Arrow to finally enter Gryphone III’s atmosphere. Their ship had waited almost 3 weeks for the Tyranids to stop looking to the skies and attack Gryphone III, but without the defense lasers the skies had been too crowded for anything else to enter.
With the defense lasers active two thunderhawk gunships were allowed to enter the atmosphere. The Thunderhawks strafed a rear section of Tyranids allowing themselves just enough time to drop their payload. For the first time Marines had been sent to Gryphone III’s aid and at a no better time. The Arrow’s sandwiched the Tyranids and broke their lines. Drop pods with flamethrower armed marines began to fall in the midst of the aliens. landspeeders could now also be seen rushing the flanks.
As the Tyranids retreated to the North the were met by a wall of Leman Russ and Hellhound battle tanks just arriving for battle. Bike mounted Space Marines had also arrived to finish what had been started.

Introduction into The Arrow: As the dust settled on a war torn station Ambrose could see the Marines returning to Arathon. He was greeted by a man who called himself Astin. Humbly Ambrose asked, “how did you we were in need of your help?”
Astin Replied, “We have been sitting outside your orbit for the last three weeks waiting for a chance to meet with you and your brother. We have much to talk about my friend.”
Ambrose wonder how Astin, an Imperial Space Marine Chapter Master, knew the name of a company commander on outskirts of the Imperium, but without further delay he escorted Astin to Basil’s chambers where he was waiting for the battle report. Upon arrival Astin thanked Basil for his efforts in studying this new alien race. He then commenced to tell the two brother about project arrow. Upon completion he asked, “I know the two of you have been through think and thin together since a young age, but I and The Emperor are in need of your assistance. The arrow needs a commander that can lead a platoon of guardsmen in our efforts to remove this plague from our system. Few Commanders have encountered the aliens as you two have, and even fewer have survived or had success with the aid of The Emperors Space Marines. Would one of you be willing to teach and guide or men in battle?”
Both brothers paused for what seemed like a Millennia. They both knew what had to be done but neither wanted to admit it. Not once had they been separated for more than a few months these last 18 years, but now seemed to be that time that their skills would be needed in separate locations. Ambrose replied, “My 1st Company is already trained in the art of eradicating these creatures. We would be honored to accompany The Arrow as it attempts to purge our system of this threat.”
“Thank you,” said Astin, “I will give you and your brother some time to decided how to split your forces. 8 fresh platoons are already in root to Gryphone III to fortify your defenses.”
After all discussion it was decided that Ambrose and Leonidas together would take the first company and accompany Astin. They, together, could train the other Imperial soldiers. Basil would stay behind and rebuild Arathon. Rebuilding would not be easy, and much work still needed to be done before his Pylons would be worthy of battle.
The next morning arrived much sooner than anyone had expected. Ambrose and Basil said their goodbyes as Ambrose boarded the Second Thunderhawk. The Thunderhawks engines could be heard until it reached the atmosphere. Both brothers prayed for the others survival...

The life of a guardsman (Guymon's fluff) Revised!! Empty The Arrow (its personal fluff)

Post  Lil Red Tue Sep 14, 2010 12:14 pm

The Arrow:

The Tyranids posed to be much more of a threat than The Emperor originally expected. Hive fleet after Hive fleet threatened to overtake what The Emperor had struggled for millennia to cleanse and protect. Soon after the Imperium’s first encounter with Hive Fleet Kraken The Emperor knew he must build a force dedicated to the eradication of the Tyranids.
The Arrow was a chapter dedicated completely to the eradication of the Tyranids. It was built to be small and quickly dispatched to areas of the system that need it the most. It now consists of only 10 Thunderhawk Gunships, and 3 Battlebarges. Few people have heard of The Arrow. The Emperor planed it this was in order to allow them free reign without limitations.

Part One - The Sword and The Chapter Master: From the day Astin was born he was fighting an uphill battle. His father felt that punishment should be in the form of a whip, and one too many beers on his part was always a good reason to punish his son. When Astin was eight years old he can home to the sobs of his mother. Her arm had been broken and her father was still standing over her with the warmed-over bat. He slurred a sentence together and swung again, this time braking two ribs. Astin, although half the size of his father, clasped a nearby lamp and broke it over his fathers head. With a thud the man fell to the floor. Astin and his mother fled form the home never to see that man again.
Five years later hell still rained down on Astin and his mother; this time it was in the form of Tyranid Mycetic Spores. Their home world Armageddon was one of the first to encounter the new race and the suburbs where Astin lived were hit harder than most. By the time Cassius and his men reached the city Astin was it’s only survivor. He was found in the basement of an abandoned building holding the body of his fallen mother, hundreds of dead gaunts stacked in front of the door.
The gene-seed process for most space marines is the most painful thing, second to death alone, they will experience. Astin’s childhood mad it seem like a walk in the park. After seeded Cassius personally trained Astin in the arts of war. The new bionics made Astin feel faster and lighter then he ever felt possible. The next decade was spent by Astin and Cassius purging Armageddon and the surrounding planets of the swine.
The Emperor’s new chapter needed a Master that didn’t need fame and constant guidance. Astin’s efforts in the Tyrannical war proved to The Emperor and Cassius that he was the only one who able to fulfill this role. When confronted with the opportunity Astin first turned it down. It wasn’t until The Emperor allowed him to choose his own Captain and Company Commander that he agreed to pilot The Arrow.

The first piece: Few had experienced as much contact with the Tyranids as the stewards of Gryphone III. Rumors had already reached The Emperor of their early victories. Astin realized that Marines alone would not be able to combat with the sheer numbers offered up by his enemy so he made his way towards Gryphone III.
Upon his arrival the hive fleet Ulysses had already encircled the small planet. The Arrow was far too small to combat an entire hive fleet in space so Astin had to wait for Gryphone III’s defense lasers to clear a path. Three weeks later the Tyranids attacked the planet, yet no laser shots could be seen or heard. Astin began to worry that his strongest ally would fall to the alien talon before he could assist them; however, one day later the lasers began to ring and Astin came to the assistants of Gryphone III and not a moment too late. With their combined efforts The Arrow and the stewards were able to defeat the alien threat. Soon after their battle, for the time being, Ulysses left their orbit in search of easier prey.
On Gryphone III Astin had expected to enlist Basil’s help because of the research he had been doing. The battle there however changed his mind and he realized Ambrose would be much better suited for space travel and warfare. When Astin confronted the two brothers about his proposition he never was able to ask for Ambrose’s assistance. Rather it was offered and the two brothers knew this was to only way to eradicate their biggest threat.
Ambrose brought with him one of his most trusted allies, Leonidas; and he brought with him his highly trained first company. The First company was the perfect addition to an already growing Chapter in The Emperors strike force.

The life of a guardsman (Guymon's fluff) Revised!! Empty Hive Fleet Ulysses: (Clips from Basil’s Joural) old stuff

Post  Lil Red Tue Sep 14, 2010 12:22 pm

This is the stuff you've read before, I just wanted it all in one place Smile

Hive Fleet Ulysses: (Clips from Basil’s Journal)

The Head, Hive Tyrant Aristo:
He was first encountered on Gryphone III. The defenses of Gryphone III had never been tried like they were the night Aristo first attacked. Spores rained from the skies and it was only hours until Aristo was within the city walls. He knew what our weaknesses were and thought that Gryphone III would fall if he could slay their leadership. Once within the walls he quickly found our leader and slew him, as well as my father. His plan would have been successful had Ambrose and I not sprung into action and slain him. After he was gone his swarms lost focus and we were able to push then back.
Since then he has only become smarter. He has realized that his presence and guidance on the battle field is worth even more than his sword. He has abandoned his attacks on Gryphone III for the time being but it is assumed once he has regained his strength his hive will be back.

The Sword, Theron Prime:
Theron was created after Aristo’s first loss. He realized that he could not be the one to deal ever killing blow. He created Theron prime (or the hunter) to pierce the heart of any army he encounters. Theron was blessed with a pair of bonswords and reflexes second only to the Eldar’s banshees. It was been rumored that some of this generations greatest generals were slain by Theron before they could even raise their sword.

Entry 1: My father called me today. Commander Breech has asked that Ambrose and I report to Gryphonne III to fight along side them as the defend our system from an invading alien we have never experienced before.

Entry 46: The alien we are encountering is known throughout the Imperium as the “Tyranids.” They fight without fear of death. Countless bugs overrun our bases daily. The smaller bugs are lead by massive titans.

Entry 49: Today we encountered something we’ve never seen before. A Tyrant of unnatural hight and strength broke through our defenses. Commander breech’s platoon were thrown aside as if they weren’t even there. The Tyrant was on a mission to severe the head of our defenses. It was as if it had been studying us the past few months. It ignored out las fire as it vaulted for Breech. As the Tyrant picked up Breech my father leapt in and with his power fist dropped the Tyrant to one knee. It seemed like forever but in reality lasted a fraction of a second before the Tyrant spun and clove my father in two. The Tyrant, now known as Aristo then in anger through Breech against the bastion ending his life.
Ambrose and I reacted. We didn’t know what else to do. I ordered my men to bring the bastard down, and ever gun in the house opened fire. Ambrose and his closest guardsmen hoped aboard the nearest Chimera and dove into the heart of the battle, right for Aristo. Upon Arrival Ambrose and his men opened Melta Hell on the struggling Tyrant, and as quickly as it started, the Tyrant was bested. The last thing it did was look into Ambrose’s eyes with a look that said, “I’ll be back.”

Entry 62: News from an Imperial Recon Ship has just arrived Gryphone III. The hive fleet we refer to as Ulysses has struck an neighboring planet whipping its inhabitants. Under 100 thousand men and women from the entire planet were able to escape the continual raining of Tyranids.
Ulysses had learned from our last encounter. At the head of its army was Aristo, Re-spawned and looking for revenge. He didn’t lash out on his own this time but rather tucked away behind a cloud of poison waiting for an opportune moment to strike. When the time was right it is said that He and a smaller more aggressive Tyranid leapt for the gasses finishing what remained of the planets resistance.

Entry 63: We have heard more from the survivors of the recent Tyranid attack. They say the smaller tyranid is known as a “prime.” He was armed with swords the size of a man but swung then at speeds second only to the Eldar’s banshees. It is said that Aristo is frequently accompanied by this prime and for memory sake we have named it Theron the hunter.

Entry 71: A Smaller Tyranid known as a “Termagaunt” was found alive and captured today. It is interesting to note the difference of this gaunt to the first generation that attacked us a few years back. They have adapted rather quickly to our enviroment. They have changed their colors to better match their surroundings and now have a dark brown skin and a light green carapace.
The Gaunt also has begun to act very strange lately. At first it was rather aggressive and tried to attack every human it came in contact with. 72 hours after the Hive Fleet left our orbit however it has reverted back to a more carnal state. It is much more defensive but not so aggressive. It no longer has a desire to kill us but rather protect itself. This may be our chance to better understand this alien race...

Entry 101: Aristo’s Command
News from Bakka just came in and Aristo and Theron were spotted there just before communications were lost and the planet overrun. Aristo had not forgotten his last encounters with the Imperium and he still wears the scars to prove it; He no longer has a tail and his carapace is marked with numberless las holes.
Aristo landed on Bakka just outside of the city and waited this time for his troops to arrive. As soon as all was in place he attacked. He knew that he had to hold this valley if his hive fleet was to overrun Bakka as not only did Bakka have guardsman protecting it but it also had a chapter of Harbringers. Aristo knew his odds were slim if he attacked Bakka on his own as his numbers were still few from his last encounter with Gryphone III and a victory was needed or his hive fleet would starve. To his luck and Bakka demise a fleet of Traitor Marines attacked Bakka the same time he did. One Leman was destroyed before Aristo hit the field. His hive guard were also able to take out a lot of the firepower in the trees before they could open fire on Aristo’s troops. Aristo began to think this was going to be easy.
A drop pod came streaking from the ski, Out came a Dreadnought and it immediately blew up one of the Chaos’s Vindicators. Aristo countered with one of his own weapons, A Trygon Prime was left in the rear and slithered with all its might to get to the scene. The Hive guard quickly immobilized the dread allowing for the Trygon to rip through the drop pod and then the dreadnought. A Landraider then fell to the sky as well as veteran marines with overloaded bolters and some with jump packs and power weapons. The Trygon was dispatched as quickly as it had arrived.
It was time for Aristo to take the valley. Already wounded from countless shots he jumped infront of some unsuspecting guardsman, sucked their life then finished them off with his sword. Theron was not far behind and ran for the center to ensure it stayed in their control. This move would mean a victory for Hive Fleet Ulysses but the doom of Aristo. Santiago had accompanied this squad of Harbringers and with him on the field Aristo’s Zoanthropes were useless. Santiago, his men and all the remaining guardsman opened fire bringing Aristo to his knees once again. As he passed from this life he knew the battle was won, their were to many Chaos marines for the remaining Imperium to withstand, but he wondered, “Must all victories come at the price of my life?...”

As for actual models I don't know if I'll actually pick them up. I still need to buy a bunch of carnifex models to turn into Tervigons, Tyranofexen and Carnifexen. I'm looking at over the next long while buying 5 carnifex models so I can have two of each.

However fluff wise I was getting sick of not having a sweet character that people feared to play against. "Santiago" wasn't always Memphiston, but people never wanted to play against him. Astin is my Santiago fluff wise. One day I think I may pick up some marines of who knows what chapter and tailor them to fit into the arrow. Mostly I think I'll pick up things here and there and use them in Apoch for now though.

Guard and Nids fit my play style a lot better than Marines, but it is fun to still have a kick A$$ HQ every once and a while...

i read it as you posted- i liked it! im still finishing the last part.

you could just get a small force for apoch games or to jump into team games. buy a thousand points worth- choose an HQ and some guys he'd lead. you don't need to buy a ton of stuff.

That's what I figure, I like the ravenwing battleforce box. Maybe half of an assault on black reach set...
